DO
  • Ensure the correct type/capacity of battery is fitted with your Inverter.
  • Battery terminals should be kept clean and dry.
  • Battery cable clamps should be firmly tightened.
  • Petroleum jelly (Vaseline) should be applied on the terminal/ cable clamps.
  • Connecting cables should be fixed to the correct poles.(+ ve to +ve, and –ve to –ve.) and must covered battery terminals with terminal shroud(Terminal protector).
  • Use float vent plug in all the 6 cells of battery.
  • Top of battery should be kept clean and dry.
  • The electrolyte level should be maintained at ‘upper level’ line printed on the battery container.
  • Topping up should be done with only distilled water.
  • Keep the vent plugs clean and tight and vent holes should be clear.
  • Get the output of the voltage regularly checked as both overcharging and under charging are harmful for the batteries.
  • In case of battery lying idle, ensure freshening charge is given once in a month.
  • Recharging should be done at recommended current (Amps) only.
  • Ensure that batteries are checked once in three months during service.
  • While fitting a battery, connect the positive cable first and then the negative cable.
  • While removing a battery, disconnect the negative cable first and then the positive cable.
  • This is flooded battery so must keep it in vertical position (vent plugs on top of the battery)
DON’TS
  • Do not install a lower capacity battery than recommended.
  • Do not top up with acid / mineral water / tap water.
  • Do not hammer down clamps on to terminals.
  • Do not over tighten the clamps on terminals.
  • Do not use grease on terminal / cable clamps.
  • Do not overfill the battery.
  • Do not keep your battery idle for more than 3 to 4 weeks.
  • Current setting for charging should not be increased to quick charge the battery, as this will seriously affect battery life.
  • The charging current should not be more than recommended current.
  • Do not test a battery by shorting it by means of a cable. It may burst.
  • Do not open maintenance free batteries vent plugs with a screwdriver / any sharp tool use coin for this purpose.
  • Do not operate or charge the battery if electrolyte temperature exceeds 60° C.
  • Do not change the invertor’s charging and discharging settings as it will be affect the battery life.
  • Do not keep any materials on top of the battery.
  • Do not keep the battery near heat generating source, higher battery operating temperature can shorten the battery life.
  • Do not keep the battery inside airtight cabinet, it may occur blast.
  • Do not make any spark generating operation near the battery it may occur blast.
